HARRISON — Kegan Chaskey said goodbye to Harrison sports at the end of baseball season after he had four years of varsity ball.
Priority to districts, he didn’t necessarily think it was his best season.
“There’s been a lot of room for improvement,” he said.
“It’s been phenomenal,” he said. “We’ve won a lot more games than we did the last few years.”
But Chaskey and his teammates came through at the end with a district title.
The 2025 season was a good one for Chaskey.
“I’ve been hitting the ball around the same as last year,” said Chaskey who was in the low .300s.
He had a walkout hit against Meridian to help his team win the game. He had a single in the bottom of the seventh. He had four singles in the 9-8 win.
Third base was among his positions. He’s been at the spot since Little League.
“I wanted two feel the intensity of it and make the long throws,” Chaskey said, adding he usually was able to make the challenging tosses to first base.
As a pitcher, “I like my off speed and I like to throw a knuckle ball,” Chaskey said
A sweep over Houghton Lake was also a highlight.
Chaskey was also a bowler. He has played baseball more than 10 years.
“I’m definitely going to miss the guys,” he said. “They’re great guys.”
