CLARE —Bryce Wieferich has been focusing on his summer on getting ready as a golfing senior for Clare.
Wieferich is coming off an impressive junior season when he qualified for the state finals.
He has played the sport 12 years. It was his third season of varsity golf.
In 2025, he qualified for the state finals and got sixth with a 153. He shot a 164 this season at the state finals and took 31st place.
The team this year “improved quite a biting in the conference,” Wieferich said. “We lost five seniors last year. It was a solid year. I improved quite a lot. My average is like 77.9 compare to 80 last area. I worked hard during the winter. I didn’t win anything last year and had four wins already this year (through mid-May).”
Driving was his strength and he worked on his short game. He shot 76 three times this season.
Golf is his sport. He was planning on playing tournaments at Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, Lansing and other parts of the state.
