Kevin Conklin, Commander of VFW Post 6248 in Decatur, has received the Gold Medal of Merit and Citation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander in Chief Carol Whitmore at the National Convention in Reno, NV.
As the chairman of the National VFW Riders Committee, he dedicated countless hours to successfully establish and integrate the National VFW Riders Group into the National Bylaws, overseeing a lengthy complex and demanding process with exceptional leadership, grace, and patience. His perseverance, leadership, and commitment were instrumental in advancing this important effort and have justly earned him the utmost respect and admiration of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Kevin was also elected as the first VFW Riders Group National President for 2026-2027. This is an organization that promotes veteran assistance programs and brings awareness to veteran suicide and over prescribing medication.
