On Saturday, July 25, 2026, at approximately 3:10 p.m., the Clare County Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting that a man had been struck by a vehicle on County Farm Street near Park Street in the City of Harrison. Callers also reported that the driver fled the scene following the incident.
Deputies from the Clare County Sheriff’s Office responded and located a 32-year-old Harrison man in the roadway with severe injuries. Deputies immediately provided emergency medical care until personnel from Mobile Medical Response arrived. The victim was transported to MyMichigan Medical Center Midland for treatment.
The preliminary investigation determined the victim had been intentionally struck by a maroon 2008 Jeep Wagoneer driven by Christopher Lee Wooster-Earl, 41, of Harrison.
Investigators learned that Wooster-Earl and one of his passengers, Jack David Earl, 20, of Harrison, had been involved in an argument with the victim prior to the assault. As the confrontation escalated, investigators allege Wooster-Earl intentionally backed the Jeep over the victim before driving over him two additional times.
After the vehicle assault, investigators were told Earl approached the victim while armed with a knife and attempted to stab him. Witnesses at the scene intervened and chased Earl away before the assault could continue.
Earl later returned to the scene while deputies were conducting their investigation and was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies searching the area located the suspect vehicle at Wooster-Earl’s residence. A deputy made telephone contact with Wooster-Earl and persuaded him to return to the residence, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Both suspects were lodged at the Clare County Jail.
Wooster-Earl has been charged with one count of Assault with Intent to Murder and one count of Hate Crime – True Threat. He was arraigned in the 80th District Court in Clare County, where bond was set at $100,000 (10% surety).
