HARRISON — To play or not to play, that as the question for Harrison’s football team entering action last week.
The answer for the Hornets was “yes, we will play,” even if it meant a three-hour trip to Centreville to play the Bulldogs last Friday. The host school entered the game with a 1-2 record but lost to Harrison in the nonleague game and the Hornets are now 4-0.
Beaverton was the schedule opponent but forfeit the game due to lack of numbers. Harrison could have accepted the forfeit win but decided to kook for another opponent and Centreville was available.
“We were pretty excited to have the opportunity to play with Beaverton canceling the game on us,” Harrison coach Jamie Lipovsky said. “We debated the options of not to play or travel three Hornets to play. It was a unanimous decision by the coaching staff that we wanted the kids to have the opportunity to play. They only have nine games in the regular season. You take one away and that’s like 12 percent of their season. We didn’t want to do that for the kids. We decided to go three hours and play someone.
“We’re grateful Centreville allowed us to come down.”
Daniel Seefeld had seven tackles, Alex Jansen had six tackles, Matt Latunski had five and Aiden Brewer had four. Nyxon Rhodes had three. Clayton Austin and Collin Dennis had two apiece.
Harrison is home on Sept. 25 against Jack Pine Conference foe St. Louis.
