LAWRENCE — Lawrence runners showed solid progress out at Warner Camp last week at the Southwest Michigan XC Rustbuster, with several athletes dropping season bests and personal bests across the board.
‘These meets are early in the season, but the effort and improvement are already showing,” Lawrence coach Tony Devauld said.
From the middle school squad, Landon Marsh‑Peek clocked a strong 16:23.1 (PB). On the girls’ side, Kacey Reyes put down a 30:52.9 (PB). The boys’ team added a string of breakthroughs: Xavier Glover ran 20:49.6 (PB), Rendyn Alfieri hit 21:31.8 (PB), and Robert Palacios followed with 22:16.1 (PB). Season bests came from Andon Offord at 23:44.8, Adrian Valerio at 26:47.7, and Walter Waite at 30:40.6.
Bangor soccer
New Bangor coach Ivan Mejia has his team off to a 2-1 start. Bangor beat Covert 3-0 on Aug. 21 and Constantine 7-0 on Aug. 24. Bangor lost to Michigan Lutheran 2-1.
For Bangor vs. Covert, Eduardo Alcaraz had two goals and Abel Calderon one.
Against Constantine, Calderon had one goal, Alcaraz had two goals, Anthony Villalobos had three and Carlos Villalobos one. Giovanni Soriano had one assist.
Anthony Villalobos had a goal against Michigan Lutheran.
