This year’s program will feature 24 pieces of student artwork displayed at 20 local businesses and organizations throughout the community during the academic year.
In addition, a reception will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Sturges-Young Center for the Arts.
Partners in Art was established in 1992 by Sturgis Council of the Arts. In recent years, Sturges-Young Center for the Arts has overseen the program and introduced an updated title, “Partners in Art: Celebrating Young Creators.”
Sarah Watson, programming and special events coordinator at Sturges-Young, expressed enthusiasm about the continued showcase.
“We are very excited to continue this fantastic program that has been a staple in the Sturgis community for more than three decades,” Watson said. “Partners in Art supports our belief in the importance of the arts at every age. I love that this program, our schools, and our community take such pride in making sure the arts remain available to students and that their creativity is celebrated.”
For some students, art provides a voice and is a chance to shine, said Eden Alvey, art teacher at Eastwood School.
“When local businesses support student art shows, they are not just supporting an event-they are investing in young artists, building confidence, and helping the next generation believe that their creativity matters,” she said.
This year’s Partners in Art program is made possible in part by grant support from William & Helen Doyle Exchange Club and by the support of participating businesses, schools, educators, families and community members.
