On Saturday, November 22, 2025, at approximately 9:16 p.m. Clare County Central Dispatch received a report of a single vehicle crash on Kirby Avenue, north of Stockwell Road in Redding Township. Initial reports indicated a vehicle with one occupant trapped inside and another occupant who had been ejected.
Deputies from the Clare County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, along with personnel from the Harrison Community Fire Department, Mobile Medical Response Ambulance Service, and Osceola County EMS.
Upon investigation, deputies determined that a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by a 17-year-old female from Marion and occupied by two 16-year-old passengers, had been traveling southbound on Kirby Avenue. The vehicle appeared to lose control, leave the roadway on the west side, re-enter the roadway, overcorrect, and then leave the roadway again before striking a tree.
As a result of the crash, a 16-year-old unbelted front seat female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Lifesaving measures were attempted by a bystander, deputies, and medical personnel. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Harrison Fire personnel were able to extricate the 17-year-old driver from the vehicle. The driver and the 16-year-old male passenger were transported to Munson Health Center in Cadillac for treatment.
The crash remains under active investigation. Speed does appear to be a factor in the incident. The Clare County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Harrison Community Fire Department, Mobile Medical Response ambulance service, and the Osceola County Emergency Services.
