25 Lego teams compete at Kiwanis qualifier

Twenty-five First Lego Challenge (3rd-5th) teams came to the 7th annual Clare Kiwanis FIRST Lego League Qualifier at Clare High School on Saturday, Nov 22.  Four FIRST Lego Explore teams (K-2nd) also presented their team model and poster, sharing their design process and what they’ve learned about the season’s theme.
Teams worked to design, build, and program a LEGO robot with unique attachments and code that completed missions in the robot game. They tested and iterated on their design to successfully complete missions in the robot game, developing their building and coding skills along the way.
In addition to having their robots compete on the field, teams were challenged to identify and research a problem faced by archaeologists and propose a solution.
Teams must:
Identify and research a problem.
Design a new solution or improve an existing one based on your selected idea, brainstorming, and plan.
Create a model, drawing, or prototype.
Iterate on your solution by sharing it with others and collecting feedback.
Communicate your solution’s potential impact.
