Demetrich Hall, a 44-year-old Albion man was arrested Sunday after fleeing from officers and hiding in a camper at a residence on Erie Street in Albion.

Just after 10 a.m. Sunday, an Albion Department of Public Safety Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Haven Road near Veterans Way in Albion. The vehicle, driven by Hall was traveling nearly twice the posted speed limit. Hall failed to stop the vehicle and willfully fled from and eluded ADPS for numerous blocks, and at one point backed into a patrol vehicle.

As reported by ADPS on scene, Hall eventually brought his vehicle to a complete stop and fled on foot with a handgun in his hand. He then entered a relative’s household in the 500 block of W. Erie Street. Attempts by a family member to get him out of the house were unsuccessful. Due to the circumstances and knowledge that he had a firearm, the Calhoun County Special Response Team responded to the scene.

After obtaining a search warrant, Hall was found hiding in a camper on the property and taken into custody without further incident. Despite a search, the firearm was not located.

Hall was lodged in the Calhoun County Jail on multiple charges including fleeing and eluding, assault on a police officer with a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of police property, resisting and obstructing police, reckless driving and driving on a revoked license.

ADPS was assisted by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Marshall Police Department, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Police Department, Albion Community Ambulance, and Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch.

ADPS Chief Aaron Phipps commended everyone involved in this incident as their communication, composure and professionalism helped resolve this matter peacefully.
