A strong start helped propel the Allegan boys basketball team to a win over Wyoming Lee on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
The Tigers jumped out to an 18-9 advantage after one quarter and led the rest of the way in securing the 63-50 win for their second straight victory.
“This was a solid performance from all of our guys,” Allegan coach Quentin Edwards said.
Luke Ellis scored 24 points to lead three Allegan players in double figures. Noel DeLucas added 14 points, while Drew Ellis had 13 points to go with seven rebounds.
“Any time we can get double figures out our back court and front court it’s going be a great day,” Edwards said.
The Tigers nearly made it three wins in a row when the traveled to Vicksburg on Friday, Jan. 21, but ended up falling 60-57.
“This game was a solid back-and-forth battle from both teams,” Edwards said. “They really struggled with our pressure defensively, but anytime you miss 16 free throws it’s going be a long night. If we make half of those, we win pretty easily.
Luke Ellis led the Allegan charge with 16 points and seven steals, while DeLucas had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Drew Ellis added 10 points.
