Allegan boys’ track earns two wins

PAW PAW—The Allegan track teams traveled to Paw Paw, with the boys’ squad coming home with a pair of Wolverine Conference wins.
The Tigers beat the host team 73.5-63.5 and bested Dowagiac 94-42.
The Allegan girls dropped decisions of 61-34 to Dowagiac and 103-21 to Paw Paw.
Sturgis also participated in the meet, but was not scored against the Tigers as those teams will face off at a later date.
Titus Smith had the best individual showing for the Allegan boys, winning the 300-meter hurdles (44.83) and the 110 hurdles (19.31). He also placed second in the pole vault (8-6) behind teammate Austin Zoch’s height of 9-6.
Luke Ellis provided the other individual-event win for the Tigers, taking the long jump at 19-9.5.
The 4×800 relay team of Campbell Brooks, Sawyer Childs, Logan Vernia and Drew Ellis (9:25.56) also won, as did the 4×400 relay team of Logan, Eli Festerling, Drew Ellis and Titus Smith (3:49.58).
Runner-up finishes for Allegan went to: Tyler Hitchcock in the high jump; Jack Ellis in the discus; Joel Antkoviak in the shot put; Festerling in the 300 hurdles and 110 hurdles; Vernia in the 800; Luke Ellis in the 200; and Josh Hansen in the 100.
The Allegan girls received third-place finishes from Christa Lamber (27-10.75 in the shot put and 85-10 in the discus), Maddie Antkoviak in the high jump (4-8), and Jozaphine Navarro in 1,600 (6:48.94).
