Allegan swim places fourth at invite

HOLLAND—The Allegan girls swim & dive team took home a fourth-place finish at the 2022 Girls D3 Midseason Invitational hosted by Holland Christian on Saturday, Oct. 1.
at the Holland Aquatic Center today.
Holland Christian placed first (424 points) in the 12-team field that included some of the top D3 schools in Michigan. Milan placed second (422) and Grand Rapids Christian was third (390), followed by Allegan (202) and Hamilton (175). Otsego placed 11th (77) followed by Plainwell 12th (55).
Mikayla Reimink led the way for Allegan by winning the 100 backstroke with a state-qualifying time of 1:01.08. She also qualified for the 50 freestyle, finishing third at 25.23.
Maddie Antkoviak also qualified both the 50 (25.77) and 100 (55.80) freestyle, swimming state cuts during the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
Allegan also swam state-qualifying times in both the 200 medley relay (Reimink, Nolynn Coombs, Eliza DeLaet and Bella Festerling with a fourth-place time of 1:58.75) and the 400 freestyle relay (Antkoviak, Lilli Kelley, DeLaet and Reimink with a third-place time of 3:49.39).
On Tuesday, Sept. 27, Allegan beat Marshall 100-83 in a league meet. The Tigers won 11 of the 12 events.
Individual winners for the Tigers included Antkoviak (200 and 500 freestyle), Festerling (100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley), Reimink (100 freestyle), Callie Borst (diving), DeLaet (100 butterfly) and Sarah Suarez (100 backstroke).
Winning relay members were Suarez, DeLaet, Festerling and Ehrich in the 200 medley relay; DeLaet, Audrey Penrod, Reimink and Antkoviak in the 200 freestyle relay; and Antkoviak, Reimink, Suarez and Festerling in the 400 freestyle relay.
