For the third time this young season, the Allegan boys tennis team finished runner-up at a tournament or quad match when the Tigers took second place at the Holland High Quad on Saturday, Aug. 27.
Holland won with 18 points, while Allegan was a single point behind at 17. DeWitt was third (13) and East Kentwood was fourth (0).
Allegan won four of the eight flights, led by No. 1 singles Eli Festerling. No. 3 singles Gavin Clark, No. 4 singles Jackson Morrie and No. 1 doubles Evan Eichbauer/Nate Kuebler also won their flights.
Cole Muenzer was runner-up at No. 2 singles.
For the day, the Tigers went five-for-nine in tiebreakers.
On Tuesday, Aug. 23, Allegan squared off with Berrien Springs and came away with a 5-3 victory in the first-ever SAC match for the Tigers.
Allegan swept the singles flights, led by a 6-0, 6-0 decision by Festerling at No. 1. Other singles scores were: Muenzer won at No. 2 (6-2, 6-2), Clark won at No. 3 (6-4, 6-4) and Morrie won at No. 4 (6-1, 6-1).
Allegan’s lone doubles win came from Enzo Giovannucci and Carson Williams at No. 3, with the pair securing the 6-3, 6-2 triumph.
