The Allegan boys tennis team welcomed five teams—including Holland Christian, the top-ranked team in Division 4—to town on Saturday, Sept. 14, for the Allegan Invitational.
The tournament was played using a blind-group-draw format, and the Tigers finished in second place with 14 points.
Holland Christian took the title with 21 points. Lakeshore was third with 12 points, with Chelsea and Ludington tying for fourth with 11 points. Portage Northern was sixth with three points.
“Our young team played well all day long and won most of our 10-point tiebreakers,” Allegan coach Damien Arthur said.
No. 3 singles Silas Neldon finished runner up, as did the No. 3 doubles team of Noah Kuebler/Oliver Burnett and the No. 4 team of Wesley Goodspeed/Carson Woodhams. No. 1 singles Gavin Clark and No. 2 singles Pedro Hara each placed third.
In a dual meet with Buchanan two days earlier, the Tigers won 8-0 to improve to 3-1 in SAC/Lakeland Conference play.
Goodspeed/Woodhams picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 doubles, while No. 2 singles Hara and No. 1 doubles Nate Kuebler/Ezra Smith won by scores of 6-1, 6-0.
