COLOMA—Junior Quentin Edwards Jr. reached a career milestone when the Allegan boys basketball team traveled to Coloma Friday, Dec. 20.
Edwards Jr. scored 17 points to surpass the 1,000-point mark for his career.
That was the good news for the Tigers. The bad news was that Edwards Jr.’s performance wasn’t enough to prevent a 63-54 loss at the hands of the Comets.
Allegan heads to Christmas break at 5-3.
“We just couldn’t get it going,” Allegan coach Quentin Edwards said. “Our youth showed in a vibrant environment.
“It was nice for Quentin to score his 1,000th point, but it was bittersweet because of the loss.”
Freshman Ayden Fusco added 10 points to give Allegan a second double-digit scorer.
“I saw some great things from Ayden tonight,” Coach Edwards said.
Brandon Thrash and Brayden Kosiorowski each had nine points, with Jeremiah Edwards-Tate going for five points.
On Tuesday, Dec. 17, the Tigers posted a 52-45 non-league win over Hopkins.
“We played great team ball,” Coach Edwards said. “We showed excellent poise and spacing. We needed this win after coming off two tough back-to-back road losses.
“Now we just need to put conference wins on the board and we’ll be headed in the direction we want. Our young guys are growing fast, which is exciting to watch.”
Edwards Jr. had 22 points, while LJ Dial had 12 points thanks to four 3-pointers. Thrash, Kosiorowski and Edwards-Tate chipped in with six points each.
