Yoder’s Amish Flea Market & Quilt Auction was held August 30 & 31 on the corner of East Herrick Road and North Leaton Road, roughly four miles southeast of Clare. Undeterred by heat and humidity, many hundreds of shoppers attended the event. 42 rows of vendors lined 21 lanes of foot traffic.
Vendors’ wares included maple syrup, jerky, electronics, rustic decorations, lawn ornaments, books, antiques, toys, video game consoles, furniture, and various handcrafted items. Live goods included puppies, rabbits, piglets, and potted plants. Amish quilts were auctioned indoors. Several vendors offered food and drinks which included hamburgers, soup, hotdogs, popcorn/kettle corn, baked goods, Amish ice cream, and lemonade. A representative of the Gideons offered their characteristic free Bibles to passersby.
