A 41-year-old McBain man, Timothy Vandenbos, was arrested in Winterfield Township for attempted murder, assault, domestic violence, weapons and more at a Clam River Road home last Thursday, (October 3 rd ).
Clare County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched at 5:37 pm to the address for the report of an assault involving a firearm.
After their arrival deputies found that Vandenbos had been arguing with an acquaintance, a Marion woman. When the argument escalated, reportedly Vandenbos pointed a revolver at the woman.
She Successfully attempted to get away, but was physically attacked. She was able to get away from the woman, deputies said.
When she was leaving the residence, Vandenbos got a shotgun and fired at the woman’s vehicle twice, hitting the passenger side.
Before police arrived, Vandenbos fled the area in his vehicle. When deputies were notified of a crashed vehicle in the area, they discovered it was Vandenbos,’ and he fled the scene again.
He was located a short time later and was arrested and taken into custody to await arraignment, the release said.
Vandenbos was arraigned October 8 th in 80 th District Court on nine charges including:
Assault with the intent to do great bodily harm less than murder;
Assault with a dangerous weapon;
Weapons – Felony Firearm possession if firearm while in the commission of a felony;
Weapons – careless discharge of a firearm;
Firearms – discharge while armed without malice and injury;
Domestic violence;
Operate a motor vehicle while intoxicated;
Firearms – possession while intoxicated; and
Failure to stop at the scene of a traffic crash.
Vandenbos is being held in the Clare County Jail on a bond of $75,000.
