BANGOR — Coach:Nick Cox is leading a Bangor baseball team which had a 17-19 record and started off the season at 4-0.
“Julian Pullins was the only senior we lost last year,” Cox said. “We will miss his leadership and fun spirit. He also was top four in batting average and second in stole bases.”
Key returners are:
Jaxon Webb 12th CF/P; Terrance Payne 12th P/3B/1B; Wyatt Schneider 12th 2B/P/OF; Nick Hardester 12th 1B
Brendon Jackson 12th P/C/DH; Jorge Dominguez 12th 3B/P; Jaret McCoy 11th SS/P; Luke Remington 11th C/P; Carson Pullins 11th P/OF; Isaiah Irvine 11th P/MIF.
“We expect to complete in every game and end the season with over 20 wins this season,” Cox said. “Our strength will be experience, speed, and depth. We need to grow our baseball IQ this season.
“Our conference has a strong group of solid baseball players with a handful of preseason All-Staters. I would have to say Decatur is ranked in the top 5 for D4 so I would have to say they are the favorite. I believe we will finish in the top half of our conference.
“We will be heading into the season with great numbers and high hopes of possibly having the one of the most successful season in Bangor baseball history. We are hoping to build some excitement for the community of Bangor with baseball this season. Some of the players will be headed out to the Houston Texas area to practice/team bonding at the end of this week for spring break. We will also be hosting an Autism Awareness game in May.”
