In a series of stories starting in this issue of the South Haven Beacon, we will be exploring the problem of a shortage of affordable houses and apartments in South Haven. In this series, we will feature the personal stories of people who live and/or work in South Haven but are struggling with the challenge of finding a place to live. For these people, the struggle is not about what may be a national crisis in housing. For them it is personal, it is emotional, and it affects their quality of life and, sometimes, their ability to work or find a place where they can easily access their job. While the South Haven City Council and the City’s staff works at solving the problem of a shortage of affordable places for people to live, the people we will be profiling are dealing with this problem on a daily basis.
