Allegan turned into a winter wonderland overnight as snow blanketed the city and temperatures slipped into the negatives.
On Sunday, Allegan saw its warmest temperature of the month, 40 degrees. However, overnight, temperatures sharply dropped down by over 80% on Monday, down to 7 degrees.
At the time of writing this (Tuesday morning), it’s now three degrees, but feels like -11 with the wind chill.
Over five inches of snow has also fallen in the city, and experts estimate more snowfall and colder temperatures by the time you read this.
The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued two different alerts for Allegan County – a Winter Weather Advisory and a Severe Weather Advisory.
They say that temperatures could drop down to as low as -20 degrees, and the area could receive two more inches of lake effect snow.
They recommend you take great precautions as prolonged exposure to sub-zero temperatures could cause frostbite and road conditions will obviously be hazardous.
