City Hall evacuated due to gas scare

LFD Engine 1 and Medic 982 respond to possible gas leak Monday at City Hall

LaFayette City Hall employees had a scare Monday when employees suspected a gas leak. As a precautionary measure, city hall and the police department were evacuated and LaFayette fire Engine 1 and Medic 982 were called to the scene.

“I just got the ladies out of there,” said Louise Davis.
Both departments were closed to the public while the Fire Department completely examined the situation. Upon investigation by the LaFayette Fire Department and Spire gas company all issues were resolved, and the buildings were reopened to both employees and the public.
