By Lindsey Ashley

As the Halloween season draws nearer, the city of Clare has begun to publicize its extensive seasonal activities. The city of Clare’s official trick-or-treating hours will take place next Friday on Halloween from 6 to 8 PM. Despite this, there’s no shortage of Halloween events that are being held.
This Monday, City Manager Jeremy Howard detailed some of these aforementioned happenings in Clare and the surrounding community. This Saturday, October 25th, in particular, will host a plethora of events.
In Harrison, Mid will be hosting their annual haunted forest, Deadwood Grove. Last weekend, Mid Michigan College hosted Deadwood Grove from 7 to 10 PM at their Harrison campus. This weekend, Mid will close out this frightfully “fangtastic” season by hosting Deadwood Grove one last time this Friday and Saturday.
Farwell will also be hosting a slew of events this Saturday. The first will be their city’s family-friendly Halloween activities held from 3 to 6 PM at the Farwell Farmer’s Market. Some of these such activities include their parade, trunk-or-treating, and much more. This event will also have free admission as well as plenty of snacks.
The second event will be a Haunted Party House hosted at Let’s Bounce Party Rentals. This event will take place from 5:30 to 9 PM and have a $20 admission per 4-person family. Let’s Bounce Party Rentals will also offer other activities and concessions like pizza slices, hot dogs, and water.
The third event will be Shock-Tober at Liberty Mountain. Shock-Tober will be held at 1001 Mott Mountain Rd., with the doors opening at 7 PM. This event will feature an Alice Cooper tribute performed by The Nightmare and a costume contest with cash prizes.
The last event taking place in Farwell this weekend is Hammerin’ Hank’s Halloween Party. This party will take place from 7 PM to 2 AM and feature a live DJ, costume contests, and drink specials.
Clare’s big event this weekend will be the Clare Primary School Carnival. This carnival will be held from 1 to 3 PM and feature games, concessions, face painting, and inflatables. It will be a $10 admission per child. Additionally, Clare will be hosting trunk-or-treat at a variety of locations both this weekend and the following one.
Next weekend on November 1st will also be when Clare holds their annual Pumpkin 5K Run/Walk. Registration will be at 9 AM, with the actual run starting at 10 AM at Emerald Isle Recreation Complex. The Clare Area Chamber of Commerce has also published a detailed list of all these events as well as those in the surrounding community on their website. The city of Clare also offered sincere wishes for a safe and exciting Halloween season in the community.
