Clare boys track team wins two

CLARE – Clare hosted a Jack Pine Conference three-team track and field meet on May 1 and the Pioneer boys won two huge decisions.
It was Clare over Sanford Meridian 139.25-23.75 and over Shepherd 107.5-55.5
The Clare girls beat Sanford Meridian 134.4-28.4 but lost 91-72 to Shepherd.
For the Clare boys, Jeffrey Schafer won the 100 meters (11.65), and the 200 meters (23.16), Owhin Thompson won the 400 meters (51.71), Brad White won the 800 meters (1:58.69) and the 1,600 meters (4:29.44), Connor Schmidt won the 3,200 meters (10:52.06) and Keagen Paisley won the 300-meter hurdles (41.77).
The Pioneers won all four relays. Jake Punches took first place in the shot put (49-9) and discus (138-3), and Ethan Reeves won the pole vault (12-3).
For the Clare girls, Cayla Barber (1:05.82) won the 400-meters (1:05.82), Sophia Buzzelli was first (2:34.09) and Lauren Leis second (2:36.73), in the 800 meters and one-two in the 1,600 meters (5:47.73, 5:53.49) Buzzelli also won the 3,200 meters (12:45.53). Ava Harton was first in the 100-meter hurdles (10.49). Julie Haggart was second in the shot put (34-0), Olivia Ryzyk was third in the high jump (4-4.75), Caitlyn Harris was second in the pole vault (8-6.75) and Abby Boyd second in the long jump (14-8).
