CLARE — Two Clare wresters placed third at the state regionals on Feb. 21 to qualified for the state finals at Detroit’s Ford Field on March 6-7.
Kyle McGraw decisioned Korbin Kobenkosky of Boyce City 12-10 in the quarterfinals. At 113 pounds, he was decisioned by Roman Goulette of Ogemaw Heights 8-3 He pinned Nick Christensen of Westwood in 3:45. He faced Kopenksokey again and won 104 to take third place.
Chris Green pinned Collin Maleski of Ogemaw Heights in 1;32 to open his day. He lost 11-0 to Tyler Bray of Kingsford. He decisioned Sean Donaghy of Tawas 1-0 and in the third-place match, he pinnned Christian Vorde of Gladwin in 4:16.
The season ended for Farwell at regionals
“Unfortunately Tessa Pipes fell in the blood round at regionals. She was the last remaining Farwell wrestler trying to make states but not a bad season at 28-10 her first high school season as she did not wrestle as a freshman,” Farwell coach Ryan Cutler said.
