MARION – Osceola County Commissioners are getting ready for a New Year are hopeful it’s going to be a good one, according to Evart-area commissioner Roger Elkins.
“So far everything is off and running and everyone seems pleased with our new county coordinator,” Elkins said. “Hopefully that stays on the bright side. But you never know. Sometimes certain things happen and people have a change of opinion.”
Earlier this year, commissioners voted 5-2 not to extend the contract of coordinator Susan VanderPol, which was set to expire in September. Tim Ladd was later hired to the position. He had been EMS director in Mecosta County.
Elkins noted there are new city managers in Evart and Reed City, plus a new county coordinator.
“There’s a lot of new faces,” he said.
During Tuesday’s county board of commissioner meeting among the items the board is expected to act is the MSU Extension Office Manager job description.
The job description which will be presented to the board states the following: “provides clerical and secretarial support to professional staff such as utilizing word processing to prepare correspondence, brochures, newsletter and a variety of other materials; assists visitors and callers with information on Extension services and by responding to specific inquiries related to the assigned program areas; establishes and maintains files; performs the bookkeeping functions of MSU Extension.”
