In an all-school assembly on Tuesday, March 10, students at Paw Paw Middle School had the rare opportunity to hear a message from Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, James C. McCloughan. Born and raised in Van Buren County, Specialist Five McCloughan spoke of his service as an Army combat medic in the Vietnam War. In his remarks to the students and staff, McCloughan emphasized the importance of living by these six pillars: Patriotism, Commitment, Sacrifice, Courage, Citizenship, and Integrity. McCloughan is shown with his wife, Cherie McCloughan, and at left, Middle School Principal Jerry McDaniel, also an Army veteran, and at far right, Middle School Assistant Principal, Troy Schultz.
McCloughan ended his presentation by singing the patriotic anthem, “God Bless the USA” made famous by Lee Greenwood.
