Clare County Veteran’s Services were recently the recipients of $1,650 donated by members of the Michilimacinac Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and with the “very generous support” of the Lake of The Pines Association (LOPA).
The funds provide Clare County Veterans Services – “veterans’ emergency relief programs including the Soldier’s Relief Funds, designed to assist local veterans with emergency funding needs, such as propane or car repairs,” according to Clare County Veterans Services Director Karl Hauser.
The donated funds are used throughout the year as needs arise.
Hauser said, “Veterans who need emergency assistance should apply through our office.” There is “a committee of local veterans who review each application and grants or denies as is appropriate,” he added.
The phone number of the Veterans’ Affairs Offices (located in the Clare County Building at 225 W Main St, Harrison) is 989-539-3273. Hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm.
Anyone wishing to donate to the relief funds should call that number for more information.
