On February 23, 2026, the Clare County Central Dispatch received information from the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office reporting that 25-year-old Gladwin man Lane Michael Last had made threats toward family members. It was reported Last was believed to be staying at an unknown residence in Clare County. Deputies with the Clare County Sheriff’s Office learned that Last had an outstanding warrant for absconding parole.
Deputies located Last at a residence at 5049 Half Moon Trail in Surrey Township and obtained a search warrant for the residence. Last was lodged at the Clare County Jail. He was charged with four counts of Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer and one count of False Report or Threat of Bomb/Harmful Device.
Last was arraigned in the 80th District Court, where his bond was set at $40,000/10%. He remains in the Clare County Jail.
