Bob Dodson has taken his role as the new Director at the Clare County Animal Shelter and hit the road running. Currently, he is helping coordinate the construction of a dog park next to the Animal Shelter on Cranberry Lake Road in Hayes Township, to better serve the Harrison and Clare County area.
Patriot Land Clearing, LLC, has already begun to clear some of the land, although Bob says it is still in the very early stages. Patriot is scheduled to be out later in the week of September 30th to continue work and hope to have the vast majority of the clearing done by the end of this fall.
There are numerous partners who are helping out with the project. Harrison High School students will be working on a Rainbow Bridge, something that anyone who has lost a pet understands the emotion surrounding having such a monument in a dog park. Donations of link fencing are hopefully forthcoming, and Bob is in conversations with Marsha McKee, who has offered expertise on the what works best in dog parks for both the dog and the owner.
Dog owners currently have to travel a bit to find a good dog park, either Markey Township (Higgins Lake area) or Mount Pleasant, to have fun with their pooch, but soon it will be right in their own backyard!
This is great news ! My new puppy River will love it. She can exercise and play and I know she’s safe
Thank you Bob and crew, and suppliers. I’m looking forward to having a dog park closer to us.
Post before you need volunteers, so people can plan to be there when needed.
Dogs & owners appreciate it.
