The Wildwood Lane Association can place a new monument sign at its entrance after Douglas City Council Monday a planned unit development amendment allowing it.
The site condominium development, city planning and zoning administrator Sean Homyen told council, was first established in 2002 as a PUD, meaning authorizing such a sign requires amending the original plan.
The proposed sign will be modest in scale — approximately 1’11” high by 2’7” wide, given a 40-squre foot total sign area — and consistent with the residential character of the development, Homyen said.
The city sign ordinance request monument signs to be at least 15 feet from any property line.
“The request,” said the ZA, “does not introduce any new use or intensity of development but rather enhances navigational clarity and community identity consistent with the intent and spirit of the PUD.
The association, working through the planning commission, coordinated with MISS DIG and the public works department confirmed that the proposed sign location would not conflict with public utilities or infrastructure
The association will be responsible for maintenance and repair of the sign, landscaping around it and any related illumination, as indicated in the amended master deed.
Any proposed illumination shall be downcast, shielded and reviewed by staff prior to installation.
