Easter is fast approaching.
That, among other things, means it’s time once again for the local Easter egg hunts in Plainwell and Otsego.
The egg hunt in Plainwell is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, at Hicks Park. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., with the first of three age-group hunts beginning at 10 a.m.
The youngest of the egg hunters—those who are two-to-four years old—are scheduled to collect eggs from 10 to 10:15 a.m. The five-to-seven year olds are scheduled from 10:15 to 10:30 a.m., with the eight-to-10 year olds taking their turn from 10:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Times for the age groups are subject to change based on how long the preceding age groups take, so it is recommended to arrive early.
The egg hunt itself is just a start of the fun for the Plainwell event, which is a joint effort of First United Methodist Church of Plainwell, First Baptist Church of Plainwell, Friendship Wesleyan Church and Faithway Church and is scheduled to run through 12:30 p.m.
There will also be prizes, candy and an Easter Walk, while the Bronson Trauma Team will be on site fitting and handing out free bike helmets. Three non-profit organizations will also be on hand accepting donations.
The Otsego Easter Egg Hunt will follow a week later, on Saturday, April 19, at Memorial Park.
Once again sponsored by the Otsego Rotary Club, the Otsego hunt begins with registration at 9:30 a.m., with the Easter Bunny scheduled to make his arrival at 9:45 a.m. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to take their own photos of their child/children with the Easter Bunny.
The egg hunt is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Each of the four groups will start at the same time, but each will be located on a different softball field at Memorial Park.
The age groups are: birth to three years; four to six years; seven and eight years; and nine and 10 years.
Following the egg hunt, a drawing will be held with prizes being given away in each of the age groups. The prizes are as follows: birth to three years a large stuffed bunny; four to six years a 16-inch bike; seven and eight years a 20-inch bike; and nine and 10 years a 24-inch bike.
The Otsego Rotary Club is sponsoring the egg hunt in partnership with Nulty Insurance, USG, the Otsego District Library, Friendship Wesleyan Church and the City of Otsego.
