Eggstravagant events to bring kids to Clare, Farwell

By Rachael Humphrey

Rain, shine or snow, on Saturday, April 19th, there will be a couple different Easter events across Clare County for families to enjoy.
Starting at the Clare Municipal Airport, from 9am-11:30am, Clare Parks and Recreation hosts their “Great EGGstravaganza.” The Easter Bunny will arrive by airplane to the Clare Municipal Airport and then pilots from the Clare Pilots Association will be dropping over 1,800 eggs by plane.
Egg drop times are broken down into three age groups. At 10:15am ages 0-4 (must be registered by 10am), 10:30am is ages 5-8 (must be registered by 10:15am) and last ages 9-12 (must be registered by 10:30am).
There will be some specially marked eggs in each age group that can be turned in for a prize. Before and after the egg drops there will be carnival style games, and a DJ for some EGGcellent fun!
For this event, please allow yourself plenty of time to park and register if you would like your child to participate in the egg drops. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer for this event, please contact Joy Simmer at (989) 424-4047 or jsimmer@cityofclare.gov.
In the event that the pilots are unable to fly, there will still be an egg hunt on the ground.
After this event, hop on over to Farwell where the Farwell Parks and Recreation will be hosting their annual Easter Eggstravaganza. This event will run from 11am-1pm at the Village Park and the Farmers Market building.
This event is a free, family-friendly event with activities for all ages. Parks and Recreation Coordinator Tonya Roe says, “I am very excited, and it has been so much fun watching the community and local businesses come together to support the event.”
There will be several thousand eggs for kiddos to pick up in Farwell. This egg hunt will also be broken down into age groups. The 0-4 age group starts at 12:15pm, 5-8 will be at 12:30pm and 9–12-year-olds will be at 12:45pm. You do not need to register for these egg hunts; however, you will need to register for the door prizes! Along with the door prizes there will be several special eggs with a free ice cream cone from the Dairy Phil, or a prize from Hank from Hammerin’ Hanks.
Before the egg hunts, children will have the opportunity to take photos with the Easter Bunny, get their faces painted, or dance around with the live DJ. There will also be fun yard games to play for prizes.
For more information on the event in Farwell or to get involved, contact Tonya at (989) 588-9926 or email tonya@villageoffarwell.org.
Both events will be held regardless of what Mother Nature decides will be the weather for the day.
