FARWELL — Farwell’s competitive cheer team finished second in Division 4 at the Chippewa Hills Invitational on Monday, Jan 20.
Marion won the competition with a three-round score of 688.48 followed by Farwell at 589.6 and Lake City at 472.6.
Nora Jannenga is Farwell’s coach and has been happy the way the team has been performing including a fourth-place finish at a Jack Pine Conference meet earlier this month.
It was freshmen Alexis Fritz and Aubree Terran’s debut and one of the strongest round one performance we’ve ever had this early in the season,” Jannegna said, adding at the Chippewa Hills Invitational, we got second overall and in the entire competition and in Division 4.”
Coming up, Farrell is slated to be in the first Annual Eagle Invitational on Jan. 28 with opponents to include Grand Rapids North Pointe and Sanford Meridian.
On Feb 17, Farwell is at Coleman for the Competitive Cheer District 23. The top four finishing teams will move on to the regional round.
The objective in the three rounds is as follows:
Round 1: Cheerleaders show off their jumping skills and ability
to choreograph motions.
Round 2: Cheerleaders perform a precision drill, tumbling,
jumping, and flexibility.
Round 3: Cheerleaders perform stunts.
