Farwell golfers third in league

FARWELL – Farwell and Clare finished up Jack Pine Conference girls play on Tuesday in St. Louis.
Farwell finished third at the match and third overall for the league.
“We are first in our division,” coach Hugh Lewis said. “Anna VanBuskirk led us at the match with a 102 for sixth place, Jacey Stover shot a 103 for eighth place, Lindsay Esterline a 108 for 11th place, and Chloe Miller shot a personal best 112 for 14th place to help us shoot a 425 for the event. 
“For the year we had three golfers receive all conference honors. Lindsay Esterline finished third in the conference for the year for first team all- conference. Jacey Stover finished sixth in the conference for a first team all conference and Anna VanBuskirk finished 12th for second team all conference.”
Farwell has accomplished plenty so far this fall on the course.
“I am so proud of the entire team and am hoping for them to continue playing well next week at regionals,” Lewis said. “These girls do not realize what an accomplishment they have achieved this year. They have lived up to my expectations and even passed a few.
“They have become good golfers, but even better young ladies. It has been a pleasure and blessing to have coached them this year. I am very privileged to have worked with them.”
Clare took fifth place with a 472. Scoring for the Pioneers were Alissa Brandon (105), Natalie Fischer (111), Kaitlyn Newkirk (124), Olivia Webb (132) and Mallorie Louch (136).
The Jack Pine also had a jamboree on Monday at Ogemaw Heights with Shepherd taking first (187), Farwell second (212) and Clare third (221).
For Farwell, Stover had a 49, Van Buskirk 51, Esterline 55, Chloe Miller 57, Carlee Campbell 57 and Ahnarae Bailey 60.
Scoring for Clare were Fischer (50), Brandon (55), Pettersh (57), Kaitlyn Newkirk (59) Joelle English (63), and Olivia Webb (70).
