Firefighters from six departments responded to a blaze in a two-story residential structure at the Picture Lake Apartments, 62nd Street south of County Road 388, Geneva Township at 6:05 p.m. Monday.
The occupants safely evacuated the building. The fire was reported to have started in an unoccupied apartment and spread to the attic area.
Firefighters had to negotiate deep snow at the scene.
Providing mutual aid to South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) were the Bangor, Columbia, Covert, Hartford and Watervliet fire departments.
Water had to be shuttled to the scene from a pond at the nearby Gingerman Raceway.
The American Red Cross was called to assist displaced residents.
