Former Van Buren County Specialty Court Administrator arrested on embezzlement charges over $100k

PAW PAW – Michigan State Police (MSP) Fifth District Special Investigation Section an-nounced the arrest of Rachel Celeste Lindley, 42 of Bethesda, Maryland, for felony embezzlement over $100,000 and felony embezzlement by a public official.
Lindley previously worked for Van Buren County as the Specialty Court Administra-tor. Following her separation from the county, she relocated to Maryland where she current-ly resides and works.
Lindley was arrested following an MSP led investigation that uncovered evidence she embezzled over $100,000 from various grants. She was arraigned in the 7thth District Court on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Embezzlement over $100,000 is a felony, punishable by imprisonment up to 20 years and/or a fine of not more than $50,000. Embezzlement by a public officer is a felony, punishable by imprisonment up to 10 years and/or a fine of not more than $5,000.
