Harrison’s 37th annual Frostbite Winter Festival begins tonight and continues Saturday at the Clare County Fairgrounds!
Join in the fun February 7th and 8th! The Harrison Chamber says, “It’s the best little hotspot around!”
You will need a Frostbite button to participate in the events. Pick yours up at the Chamber Office today or at the events. They are each $5.
The excitement starts next tonight with the Frostbite Kick-Off Party from 6 to 8 pm at the Harrison Lion’s building at the fairgrounds. Doors open at 5:30 pm, light snacks are set for 6 pm and an Auction with a fabulous list of items will be held at 6 pm. Items to be auctioned are donated by area businesses with the top prize being a $500 Advertising package from WUPS.
Other prizes include a fishing charter, a Frankenmuth experience, hotel packages, a stay at Soaring Eagle, tubing passes and much more.
That is only a small sample of the many special items and baskets in the auction this year, the Chamber said.
After the party and auction the evening will continue with a “Pub Crawl, (ages 21 +) set to begin at 8:30 pm and winding up at 12:30 am!” It will be a night of fun on a luxury coach bus, complete with games and giveaways throughout the evening. ($25 registration fee plus your Frostbite button.) Stops on the crawl include the Lions Club, Snowbird Lanes, the American Legion, Tippy Canoe and Scooters. There’s lots more on tap for the weekend – Frostbite Fun continues all day on Saturday. There will be a Polar Slide/Plunge, a Lion’s Dinner/Comedy Show, a Chili Cookoff, a Craft Show, a Childrens Carnival, a Tug of War and more!
Load of fun events will be held at the fairgrounds Saturday beginning at 10 am.
The big event will be the annual Golf Tournament with registration on Saturday at 10 am at the fairgrounds. The tournament begins at 10:30 and lasts until approximately 3 pm. Cost is $25 per person (Frostbite button required) and there will be two-man teams with eight people per hole. First, second and 3rd prizes will be awarded.
The Craft Show in the Lions building (417 Fairlane Street) begins at 10 am and is open until 3 pm. The show features décor, crafts, jewelry, clothing and much more.
At noon, tasting begins of the entries in the Frostbite Soup & Chili. $5 to taste & judge entries.Competitors must register by February 1st. Register at harrisonareachamber.com/event- flyers.
A brand new event this year will be the Tug-of-War competition beginning at noon Saturday. Cost to participate is $15 per five-person team – double elimination. Special snowball interference will be available with 3 balls for $1. Register online at www.harrisonareachamber.com or call 989-539-6011.
Doors will open at 5:00 pm Saturday evening for the Frost Bite Festival Dinner and Comedy Show featuring Mike Ball and J Bell at the Lions building. Tickets are $35 per person plus a Frostbite Button. Dinner is at 6 pm and the show begins at 7 pm. Tickets are available online at www.harrisonareachamber.com/events.
