Full slate of events for Memorial Day weekend

While this is not a comprehensive list, here are some events this holiday weekend to enjoy with friends and family:

Friday/Saturday events

Mystic Camp (YMCA) at 9507 W. Ludington Drive in Lake has a fun filled weekend for families with activities such as archery, hiking, canoeing, volleyball, and arts and crafts (& more!). Cost for housing the three nights includes Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Sunday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Monday brunch. To register you will can find a link on the Clare Area Chamber of Commerce website.
The Nicholas “Cup” Saupe Golf Tournament takes place on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Eagle Glen Golf Course located at 1443 Clubhouse Dr. in Farwell.
Does your pup have nails that are a bit overgrown (because trimming a dog’s nails can often be a bit of an adventure on their own!), then bring your pup to Paws-a-While in Clare located at 313 E. 4th Street. The PAWPS Nail Trim Saturday – May 25 – will clip those nails for $5 regular, using a Dremel $7, still a very inexpensive way to save your furniture and clothing and protect the dog from ripping their nail, which could end up with an expensive vet bill! The group at Paws-a-While will be doing this from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., no appointment necessary! These nail “clinics” take place on the last Saturday of each month!
Farwell Fair Memorial Day Weekend Festival!! Farwell will be hosting a Memorial Day Weekend TNT Figure 8 Derby at the Farwell Fairgrounds, 221 S. Webber Street in Farwell, on Saturday, from 7 p.m. to around 10 p.m. There is even a “powerwheels derby” ages 3 to 10 years that has no entry fee! Other entry fees for drivers is $50 and all cars must be registered one hour prior to showtime. Pit passes for all ages is $20.
Farwell will also be hosting Mark BlomSteel on Friday evening, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fairgrounds. Regular tickets are $10 with Meet & Greet tickets $20.
The Annual Harrison Memorial Day Weekend Car & Bike Show will take place on Saturday, May 25, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (previously this event was held on Sundays). The event, sponsored by the Harrison Chamber of Commerce, will be held downtown with Second Street closed off for the event. There will be numerous crafts and goodies for the kids as well, with face painting and cakesicile decorating!
The Flea Market in Harrison will have its official summer 2024 opening on Friday, May 24, 2024, starting at 9 a.m. The market is located at 4600 N. Clare Avenue in Harrison, across from the Clare County Airport and next to Scooter’s Bar. The Flea Market hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Harrison High School Alumni will be hosting their 2024 Coffee Hour and Business meeting at the Harrison High School Auditorium at 6 p.m.; This event is open to all Harrison High School Alumni. Admission is $5 at the door, and 50/50 tickets will be sold.
Harrison Lumber will be holding their Grand Re-Opening all weekend long with great deals! Swing on by if you can to do some shopping and see what renovations they’ve done!

Sunday Events

Farwell’s Memorial Day Fair will hold a Pure Pro Wrestling Match on Sunday, at the Fairgrounds. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. with a Meet & Greet of all your favorite Pure Pro Wrestling stars at 2 p.m., and the show will begin with bell time at 3 p.m.
Lake George Boosters Club will be hosting a BBQ chicken dinner at 89 South Bringold Avenue in Lake George. The delicious dinner includes ¼ chicken, sides, and a homemade dessert for $13!
While not in Clare County, Coleman’s Annual Veteran’s Memorial Concert – United by Sacrifice – fundraiser features Night Ranger this year! The concert starts with opening acts at 1 p.m. and will end around 8 p.m. after Night Ranger finishes their set. Gates open at noon at the Coleman Veterans Park located at 499 Railway Street in Coleman. Regular tickets are $40 in advance or $50 the day of the event, with VIP tickets at $125; all tickets have a fee added.
