Garage and car destroyed in Paw Paw blaze

The Paw Paw Fire Department responded Monday afternoon, March 24, to a garage and car fire at 48255 45th St., Paw Paw. A total of 23 fire department members responded to the fire which was reported at approximately 3:06 p.m. Arriving at the scene, the unattached garage, approximately 20 x 30, was fully involved. A car, located near the garage, was also destroyed in the fire. A residence, approximately 20 feet away from the blaze, received heat damage to the siding. Paw Paw Fire Chief Kyle Richardson said the fire department remained at the scene for 90 minutes. Paw Paw was also assisted by Lawrence Township Emergency Services with a tanker as well as Van Buren Emergency Medical Services (VBEMS). The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
