GOBLES — The Gobles Varsity Volleyball team ended their season play just short of winning districts, hosted at Bloomingdale High School.
The Lady Tigers played on Monday Nov. 4., beating Bloomingdale in the first round (25-21, 25-20, 25-21) to advance to round 2.
Sariana Wilson had a great day at he net with 3 blocks and 6 kills, Liz Woodard had 1 block and 5 kills, Sasha Doll had 1 block and 4 kills, and Riley Johnson had 3 kills, assisted by Kylee Killeen with 13 assists.
In the back row Kylee Killeen had 13 digs, Alana Gonzalez had 12 digs, and Sasha Doll had 11 digs to lead the defense.
Top servers were Ellie Wood leading the pack with 14/14 (100%) and one ace, Riley Johnson close behind with 13/14 (93 percent )and 4 aces, and Liz Woodard 10/11 (91%) and 1 ace.
Gobles moved on to the second round facing Fennville on Wednesday Nov. in a tough matchup going 5 games, but in the end Gobles lost the match
(25-21, 25-27, 15-25, 25-23, 5-15).
At the net Ellie Wood had a great night with 4 blocks and 11 kills,
Sariana Wilson had 8 blocks, and 2 kills, Sasha Doll had 3 blocks and 4 kills, and Kylie Killeen and Riley Johnson both had 6 kills, with Kylee Killen and Sasha Doll assisting with 20 and 8 assists respectively. On
defense Alana Gonzalez had 18 digs, Kylee Killeen and Sasha Doll had 13 digs each, and Liz Woodard had 8 digs.
Serving, Kylee Killeen went 15/15 (100%), Liz Woodard 9/9 (100%) and 1 ace, Sasha Doll 22/24 (92%) and 1 ace, Alana Gonzalez 10/11 (91%), Ellie Wood 17/19 (89%) and 2 aces, and Riley Johnson 16/18 (89%) and 2 aces. “These girls really worked hard and improved throughout the season with some really tough and close matches that aren’t reflected in their season record, finishing with 9 wins, 25 losses, and 4 splits.” Renee Rambadt, Head Varsity Volleyball Coach, said. “These ladies played with heart. We would like to thank our seniors Liz Woodard, Sasha Doll and Emma Shugars for all they have done for the program throughout their high school years and giving us an amazing season and wish them luck in their future endeavors. We will miss you next year, but are excited about the legacy and the volleyball family you are leaving behind.”
