Gobles volleyball coach happy with start

GOBLES – The Gobles varsity volleyball team is off to a great start this season according to coach Renee Rambadt.
Their team of 10 consists of: seniors Elizabeth Woodard, Sasha Doll, Emma Schugars; Juniors – Kylee Killeen, Ellie Wood, Makenna Hunt, Adriana Dickerson; Sophomores – Sarianah Wilson, Kim Newland; and Freshman Riley Johnson.
“They did a great job for their first run together in the season opener Lawton Invitational on Saturday Aug. 24th, Rambadt said. “In pool play they went 4-4, winning two against Hartford, losing two to Parchment, and splitting 1-1 with
Comstock and Lawton to finish second in their pool. Unfortunately, they were eliminated in the first round of bracket play losing two to Our Lady of the Lake.
“Everyone got some action during the day with our top servers Liz Woodard – 91.7 percent with four aces, Kylee Killeen – 86.7 percent with four aces, Ellie Wood – 86.4 percent with three aces, Sasha Doll – 82.4 percent with an amazing nine aces, Adriana Dickerson – 81.0 percent with three aces, and Riley
Johnson – 76.9 percent with an awesome seven aces. Top hitters were Sasha Doll with an incredible 13 kills on the day, Ellie Wood right behind her with nine and Kylie Killeen with eight, and Liz Woodard with six.”
Rambadt added:
“Ellie Wood stole the show for blocking with five blocks on the day. In back row defense, Liz Woodard dominated withcan amazing 22 digs. Close behind were Kylie Killeen with 12 digs and 16 assists, Sasha Doll with 10 digs
and 11 assists, and Adriana Dickerson with 11 digs. All did an amazing job with some clear improvements individually and as a team throughout the day.”
The Lady Tigers take on Schoolcraft at home on Sept. 5. “Come out and watch these amazing young ladies,” Rambadt said.
