Hartford area woman in custody following fatal shooting

HARTFORD – A 41-year-old Hartford area man is dead following an early Monday morning, March 24, shooting in Hartford, according to a press release from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott said Sheriff’s deputies responded at 1:16 a.m., to a fight in progress at 400 S. Mary Street, in the City of Hartford, with shots fired. Upon arrival, deputies found an unresponsive male. Life saving measures were taken, but he succumbed to his injuries.
Deputies requested the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Division, (CID), to assist with the investigation. The case remains open and ongoing, according to Sheriff Abbott.
Sheriff Abbott emphasized that there are no safety concerns for the public. The sus-pect, a 41-year-old Hartford area woman, is currently in custody and is being cooperative with the investigation. She is currently awaiting arraignment.
Sheriff Abbott said more information will be released as the case develops.
Assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene were Van Buren Emergency Medical Ser-vices (VBEMS) and Van Buren County CID.

  1. One thing is hard for people to understand is that once that bullit leaves the chamber, you can’t take it back. Now he’s dead, and she will probably be in prison for the rest of her life!! No bad deed goes unpunished.
