HARRISON — Sam Hopkins had a strong senior season for Harrison volleyball to wrap up her career in that sport.
It was her second varsity season.
“I think I personally transitioned well last year,” Hopkins said. “Our new coach I’m very happy with.”
Hopkins was a libero and specialized in passing.
“You have to stay calm, don’t freak out and have faith in yourself,” Hopkins said, adding that serve receive for Harrison “was so much better than last year. It’s unbelievable. The key was being calm, have faith in yourself and having good teammates.”
Hopkins had a lot of aces as a server.
“The key is to try to look for any open spot,” she said.
Harrison was competitive in most of its matches.
“We have to trust each other,” Hopkins said.
Hopkins is also in basketball and track for Harrison. She said track is her best one. She’s in the sprints, long jump and relays and has four current records. She will decide on her college sports destination later.
“It’s a big thrill,” she said. “I love running.”
