James Edward Monroe

MONROE, JAMES EDWARD, age 68, of Farwell, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Medilodge of Clare.
Funeral Services for Jim will be held at Farwell Community Church on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dan Oliver officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Surrey Township Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at 3 p.m. at The Doherty Hotel, 604 N. McEwan Street in Clare. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Jim was born December 7, 1953, in Petoskey, Michigan, the son of Donald and Nanette (Paulus) Monroe. He moved to Howell at the age of 3 and lived his childhood there until moving to Arizona after graduating. After living in Arizona for 30 years, he returned to Michigan. Jim had a passion for buying and selling at various markets, which he did for most of his life. He also worked as a security officer, postal worker, taxi driver, pet store owner, and worked at an assisted living home. Jim was a member of Farwell Community Church where he was very active in church activities. Although Jim loved all music, church music was his favorite. He loved yard work, being outside, and loved to help his neighbors.
Jim is survived by his sister Yvonne (David) McDowell of Mt. Pleasant; brother-in-law Harold McMacken of Howell nephews Jeff McDowell, Dean McMacken, Michael McMacken; nieces Therese McMacken, Jenny Garth, Amy Seybert, DaJung Albus; and many grand nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Joan McMacken.
