Lady Rebels win six, now 15-4

The Lady Rebels go six for six this week to make their record 15-4 for the season. The Lady Rebels blew out Lakeside 11-1. The Rebels fired up their offense in the first inning. Natalie Lovelace grounded out to first base but scores one run. Lanie Lackey doubles on a line drive to right field to score one. The second inning Carley Forbus singles on a fly ball to left field to score one run. Makenzie Gilliland hits a triple to right field for three RBI’s. Inning four saw Forbus, Gilliland, Lexi Smith and Chloe Mitcham each with RBI’s. In the sixth inning, Lindsey Fuller doubles on a fly ball to left field to score one run. Mitcham took the win for the Rebels allowing three hits and one run over six innings while striking out 11 and walking one. The Rebels had 12 hits with Mattie Reese, Fuller, Lackey and Smith leading the Rebels with two hits each. Gilliland led the in team in RBIs with four.

The Rebels grab the lead in the fifth inning for a 10-8 win over Lee Scott. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the game was tied at four all with Lindsey Fuller at bat. On a 3-2 count, she singled, scoring two runs. The Rebels increased their lead by six in the sixth inning when Gilliland and Lackey each hit a homerun. Lee Scott attempted a comeback in the seventh inning but failed. Grace McCary took the win for the Lady Rebels. She surrendered three runs on seven hits over four innings. McCary struck out three and walked one. MaKayla Foster pitched three innings in relief. The Rebels had 11 hits in the game. Reese and Lackey led the team with three hits each. Mitcham also hit one out in the second inning.

On Thursday, the Lady Rebels traveled to Alabaster to take on Evangel Christian of Alabaster. Ranked number three in the Alabama Christian Sports Conference, Evangel Christian didn’t put up much of a fight against the Lady Rebels. Natalie Lovelace got things started in the first inning with a triple to score one run. The Rebels added six runs in the seventh inning with Bailey Allen, Gilliland, and Mitcham driving in runs. Chloe Mitcham took the win for the Rebels. Mitcham pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out 13 and walking one. Lovelace, MaKayla Foster, and Gilliland all had multiple hits in the game with Mattie Reese and Carley Forbus leading the team with three hits each in the 11-3 win.

The Lady Rebels run ruled Edgewood Academy 12-0 in three innings. The Rebels scored 10 runs in the first inning. Mitcham took the win, allowing one hit and striking out four. Reese, Foster, Allen, and Fuller had multiple hits with Mitcham leading the team with three hits. Foster led the team in RBIs with four.

The Lady Rebels won both games against Lakeside. In game 1, the Rebels beat Lakeside 12-2. In the sixth ending, the Rebels scored seven runs with Natalie Lovelace, Makenzie Gilliland, Bailey Allen, Carley Forbus and Mattie Reese each knocking in runs during the innings. Mitcham was the winning pitcher. She allowed four hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking one. Reese, Mitcham, Forbus and Lovelace had multiple hits each with Reese going 3-for-4 at the plate. Game 2 ended with a 15-2 win over Lakeside. The Lady Rebels scored seven runs in the second inning. Laney Lackey, Lindsey Fuller, Allen, Reese and Mitcham all contributed in the inning with RBIs. Again, Mitcham was the winning pitcher allowing only two runs on six hits while striking out five and walking one. Mitcham lead the Rebels in hitting going 3-for-4 at the plate.

This week, the Lady Rebels will play Fort Dale on Monday and Glenwood on Tuesday. They will play a double header area game against Macon East at home on Thursday.
