Lake George man’s threats close down Clare VA clinic

The Clare VA Clinic was placed into lockdown last Friday while threats made by a Lake George man were being investigated, a release from the Clare County Sheriff’s Office said.
Clare County Central Dispatch received a call at 10:04 am January 17th from the Veterans Crisis Hotline reporting that a man had contacted them and made threatening statements towards the Clare VA Clinic.
As soon as they were notified, Clare County Sheriff’s Office deputies contacted the Crisis line. They were able to identify the caller, 70-year-old Robert Hubble of Lake George. They learned that Hubble had made “several phone calls to the crisis line and that during one of the calls Hubble had threatened to go to the Clare VA Clinic and ‘shoot the place up’ if he was not seen on ‘this’ date.”
The Clare VA Clinic was placed into lockdown; Hubble was located at his residence and arrested. A a search warrant was obtained and conducted at Robert’s residence resulting in the discovery of “a number of firearms.” The weapons were seized.
Hubble was arraigned in 80th District Court on the charge of “malicious use of a telecommunication device.” His bond was set at $100,000/ten percent. He posted bond and was released January 18.
The Clare County Sheriff’s Office was assisted with this investigation by the Michigan State Police Post out of the Mount Pleasant Post.
