Melissa Pyle is head coach for sideline cheer at Lauren and recalls major highlights from a year ago.
“Tripling the number of cheerleaders was a highlight/record/top moment of the season.” Pyle said. “Senior captain Kennedi Klock and junior captain Evie Mead led the team to growth and success with their combined years of skills and practice.
“Kennedi will be deeply missed this season. She began her cheer career in Rocket Cheer. Though she is attending Ferris State University this fall, she will help when she can. Without her, this team may not have had the same high standards and growth.
For this season, “senior captain Evie Mead and junior captain Sarah Carlisle are my go to cheerleaders this season,” Pyle said. “I expect them to hold their teammates accountable and set a great example. We have a young team and these two will set them up for success for years to come.
“As this is my second season coaching this team, we hope to grow on a different level. The standards will be higher, the skills will be harder, and we still hope to still grow in number as well. The strength of this team is that there is a solid foundation to build on from last season. For this reason we will be more refined than before.
“We need to spend time on strength and conditioning to help our stunting and tumbling.”
