Lawton football team defeats Coloma

LAWTON – Lawton’s football team improved to 4-2-1 overall with a 46-8 win over Coloma on Friday.
It was 13-0 after the first quarter, 19-9 at halftime and 33-0 after the third quarter. Lawton had a 13-8 scoring advantage in the fourth.
Brady Quick was 2-of-2 in passing for 39 yards. Lawton had 429 rushing yards compared to 49 for Coloma.
Owen Matthies had five rushing attempts for 108 yards. Greyson Burrous had six attempts for 75 yards and three touchdowns. Caiden Mitchell had 11 tries for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler McCartney had five carries for 51 yards and one touchdown. Hudson Merriman had four tries for 46 yards and a touchdown. Wyatt Streeter had four attempts for 41 yards.
On defense, Mason Mayne had nine tackles, two sacks and four tackles for losses. Cole Burk had six tackles, one sack and four tackles for losses. Rocky Karsen had nine tackles. Mitchell had seven tackles.
Lawton has a 5-2 conference record and is 5-2 overall. Lawton has a home game on Oct. 18 with Saugatuck and a home game on Oct. 25 with Constantine.
