Lawton Summerfest set for July 9

Lawton – Lawton Summerfest 2022 will be held July 9, in downtown Lawton with a full lineup of activities, concluding with a fireworks show at dusk. Main Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to midnight. A detour will be set up,
The day’s activities begin at 8 a.m. with a Summerfest 5k walk/run.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a car show will be held on Main Street. Also, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a cornhole tournament will be held in a lot next to Wagoner’s Grocery Store. Face painting and Henna Tattoos will be held in front of the Lawton Fire Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A craft show will be held on Third Street and the nearby alley from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Also, from 10 a.m. until finished, a horseshoe tournament will take place at Kid’s Dream playground. A variety of kids’ activities, including games, rock painting and more will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lawton Fire Hall. From 4 to 9 p.m., bounce houses will be set up in the lot next to Wagoner’s Grocery Store.
Food trucks will be set up in the fire hall parking lot, with seating beginning at 9 a.m. until sold out.
Also, cardio drumming will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the fire hall.
Also scheduled: Stomp Rocket in front of the fire hall, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Dunk Tank – 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Lawson’s Third Street gas station and the Lawton Public Library.
The 2022 Summerfest Parade will step-off at 5 p.m. at the Lawton Elementary School. Lineup will begin at 4 p.m. There is no preregistration to be in the parade, participants are asked to just show up and they will be placed in line.
At 7 p.m., the Bronk Bros, will take to the stage at 7 p.m., and will play until dusk.
The daylong event concludes at dusk with fireworks
Downtown restaurants will be open for Summerfest-goers, and a DJ will provide music at the corner of Big T’s restaurant from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
All activities will pause at 6:30 p.m. for the singing of the National Anthem by Summerfest alumni Dan Brooks.
According to Summerfest organizers, most of the events are free, provided by the many Summerfest sponsors.
